How did you become a writer?
It's a gift. I learned early on, probably in elementary school that I was a good writer, and I excelled in English, Literature and Writing classes throughout my years in school. And I also learned pretty early on that I had the gift from God to encourage people.
What are you hoping readers take from your book?
I hope that readers will be thoroughly encouraged and inspired when they read my book. And that it's nothing temporary, but that they're outlook on life and how God sees them will be changed forever.
If you were to write a book about a contoversial topic, what would it be?
Trust me, my books are already controversial. All of my books are non-fiction and Christian inspirational. I freely name the name of Jesus throughout my books, and in one of my book titles. And it's so unfortunate that society doesn't necessarily want to hear about Jesus, unless they're cursing and using His name in vain.
I've even had an advertiser ask me if they could not use one of my book titles in an ad because it has the word "Jesus" in it ("Jazz, Java & Jesus"). The answer was, "No. That's the title and you have to use it."
Are you an avid or occasional reader?
I'm an avid reader. I'm constantly reading, but not always books. I read a lot of articles, white pages, books, manuals, you name it.
If you could interview one of your favorite authors, who would it be? Why?
That's a good question. I would love to have coffee with Steve Harvey and interview him about his books. Mainly because his books have been incredibly successful and he's mostly known for being a comedian. I'd love to know what literary and publishing tips for success he may have.
Name two "Must Have" items you need to prepare for writing your books.
That would be my Mont Blanc Le Grand ink pen. It was a gift from my mother & sister after I wrote my first book, and I love it! It's actually the only pen that I use to sign books with. And the second item would be my Bible, because all of my books are biblically based.
What new projects are you working on?
I'm currently working on my fifth book, which will be released this summer (2013). After that, I may take a break from writing for the rest of 2013 and concentrate on the marketing of all of my books, and then get back to writing in 2014.
