Mother Faye Duncan, Chad Donahue, Rosa Johnson-Vasquez and Bishop Michael “Jeremiah” Hampton have one thing in common they were left behind in The Unlikely Remnant by Tracey Michae’l Lewis. A mother of the church, a radio talk host, a teacher and a bishop find refugee in a church after the rapture. All four individuals are from different backgrounds and each one does not understand why God didn’t take them.
All four individuals soon realize that they will have to come to grips with their wrongs in order to try and find out why they are still here. Mother Faye has been barren and it has ruined her marriages, Chris made a mistake when he was a child that has caused great pain, Rosa is suffering with what lies within her mind and causes her to take unhealthy actions and Bishop Jeremiah has hidden secrets that cause him to commit acts that should stay hidden. Will each individual correct their wrongs before God comes back? Or will they give in and join the other side?
The Unlikely Remnant is a reminder that we are not in control. When problems arise and there are issues we cannot handle turning them over to Him is the best thing to do. Having faith in God will help any transition become a smooth one. This was a powerful story that had me hooked from page one.  The author does a wonderful job creating a story that will have readers emotionally invested. The characters are well-developed, the storyline is strong and the ending is shocking. I recommend The Unlikely Remnant to others.
