Book Review: The Blood Done Signed My Name

5 Stars for The Blood Done Signed My Name

In The Blood Done Signed My Name by M. Ann Ricks, readers are introduced to Honey, a woman trying to run away from her past. Honey has a new life with husband, Mason and everything seems fine until, Honey takes matters into her own hands. Honey’s decision has a huge effect on her marriage, which causes Honey to realize her past is starting to interfere with her future.
Mrs. Sadie is Honey’s neighbor and acts like her second mother. Mrs. Sadie makes a habit of checking on Honey because she has her best interest at heart. Honey enjoys Mrs. Sadie’s company and the spiritual guidance she provides. When Mrs. Sadie asks Honey to accompany her own a trip to their hometown of Lyonville, Honey is unaware of the shock awaiting her. Mrs. Sadie is on a mission and once it is revealed, will Honey be able to understand her reasoning?
Honey knows going back to her hometown will warrant her to face everything she has tried to forget. Honey also knows that confronting her problem will help her save herself as well as her marriage.
The Blood Done Signed My Name was an intriguing book to read. The emotional anguish of the main character had me glued to this story. I could not wait to find out if Honey would overcome her pain. In addition, I was anxious to know how Mason and Honey’s marriage was going to play out. This book had family secrets, drama and a little mystery. I look forward to reading more of this authors work.
